We've all seen self righteous frowning condemnation
But God doesn't seem to mind if we laugh
Life's not for frowning condemnation
We weren't put on this earth to live like that

Yet when you see the values that are valued
Love seems such a controversial act
It liberates us with its truth and beauty
No wonder there are those that hold it back

But there's no containing that great rebel spirit
There's no way to contain a dream so vast
It's speaking now to anyone who listens
Bidding all to do its joyous task

It's as simple as a snowflake or a teardrop
Yet its ideas are so difficult to grasp
It's more complicated than any computer
Yet to feel its easy flow is all it asks

Feel it with your lover and your children
Feel it in whatever light it's cast
Feel it in the crowd, in the city
Feel it on a solitary path

Not to give of it is selfish and so wasteful
It's not the kind of treasure you amass
It's the kind you give away with sweet abandon
And that's the only way to get it back

But some say that it's shameful, that it's sinful
To be human, to be happy, to be free
In their shrivelled hearts they call it sinful
To live the way that loving ought to be
